Vollrath Induction Burner

I found a cheap one on Amazon (the Max Burton 6000) (one reviewer says Cooks Illustrated recommends this unit as best value < $500), but Ben says I needed one with more power, so got the 1800 watt Vollrath countertop unit from WebRestaurant.com instead. It's large, stable, and has a precise 1-100% power range and temperature and timing controls. I've only used it twice and am still getting used to it, but both times I had minor issues with food sticking/burning on the surface of the pan. My non-stick pans aren't magnetic, so I may need to get a new one. The dishes (Cambodian Ginger Chicken and scrambled eggs), however, turned out great. One annoying thing is that the chrome cover for the control knob fell off, so I'm going to have to glue it back on.

My plan is to put a 2-burner drop-in unit in the island when I do the new kitchen (either the Vollrath 69508 (3.5kW@240V) or the 69524 (2.9kW@240V).
